18th September 2020

In our thought for the week, let us begin by giving thanks to our loving God for all the good things we have and enjoy.   Let us thank Him especially for the beauty of nature and creation all around us, the glorious weather we have enjoyed this week, the vibrant colours of the trees and late flowering summer plants as we move into Autumn.

We are now two weeks into our new School Year and Term and as we live day by day in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, may we continue to ask Saint Bede, to pray for us and help us as we face the unknown and the challenges which each day brings.  Now we have started back to School and studying, teaching, praying, serving, learning and working together, here is a special prayer written by Saint Bede we can make our own:

I implore you, good Jesus, that as in Your mercy you have given me to drink in with delight the words of Your knowledge, so of Your loving kindness You will also grant me one day to come to You, the fountain of all wisdom, and to stand for ever before Your face.  Amen.

Also, as we belong to the family of schools within the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy, a wonderful way we can commit ourselves to this new school year is to ask Our Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus and Our Lady of Lourdes to pray for us.

Here is a traditional prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes:

O Holy Virgin of Lourdes,

in the midst of your days of glory,

do not forget the sorrows of this earth.

Cast a merciful glance upon those who are suffering,

struggling against difficulties,

with their lips constantly pressed against life’s bitter cup.

Have pity on those who love each other and are separated.

Have pity on our rebellious hearts.

Have pity on our weak faith.

Have pity on those we love.

Have pity on those who weep,

on those who pray,

on those who fear.

Grant hope and peace to all.

Amen.

Our Lady of Lourdes, Pray for us

St Bede The Venerable, Pray for us.

Lord God,

we thank You for our school family and our wider community.

Thank You for all that You have given us to explore and be curious about in our lessons and in our leisure time outside of the curriculum.

Guided by Your Holy Spirit, inspire us as we journey through this half term, as we seek to put our learning into action.

Help us to be active like the Disciples and courageously cast our nets out into the deep, ready to be engaged within the wonderful world You have created, as we strive to change what we can, with Your help, for the better.

In the Name of Jesus, Your Son, we make our prayer.  Amen.
