Good morning everyone, hello and I hope you are well today. As we approach the weekend once more, may the Lord in His love keep you safe and bless you as you spend some restful and relaxing time with your families.
Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Friday. May it strengthen and deepen your walk of faith with our Lord today.
For the final time this week, here is our weekly scripture for your encouragement and inspiration which comes from the Book of Psalms.(Psalm 90:1,2) Let us thank God for the gift of His word to us today, and this week.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most-High and abides in the shade of the Almighty, say to the Lord, ‘My refuge, my stronghold, my God in whom I trust.’
We remember today the Memorial of Our Lady of Aberdeen.
Today may the prayers of Our Blessed Lady accompany staff, pupils and families in our MAC community of Schools who are Scottish or who have family members and ancestral roots originating from Scotland.

We also remember St Augustine Zhao Rong and his Companions.

Pope St John Paul II canonised them all on 1st October 2000.

The Month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus and the Love of God for us and towards us.
Traditionally, in the Church during the Month of July, we remember and honour the Precious Blood of Jesus and we give thanks for the eternal and unconditional love that our God has for each one of us.
We can honour Jesus’ love and think about how He suffered for us as we remember His final journey to Calvary where He died, as we join in with the prayers and meditations of the 14 Stations of the Cross. We also call to mind His sufferings and all that happened to Jesus before He went to the Cross in the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. With each of these particular Mysteries of the Rosary, we remember:
Jesus’ Agony in the Garden; His scourging at the pillar; His crowning with thorns; His carrying of the Cross and His Crucifixion and Death.
Month of July – Precious Blood and the Love of God for us:
“God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not perish but may have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
We can see God’s love in the beauty of creation, our loved ones, family and friends, the good things we enjoy in our lives, our blessings and all we have. In the Sacraments of the Church and especially in the Eucharist, at Mass, we remember the Lord’s love in dying for us on the Cross and the offering of His life for our salvation. Inspired by the love of God, we too should love one another.
How might we show our love for God and for others today?
We can show our love for God by thanking Him for His great love and by showing love, kindness and respect to others as we are all brothers and sisters together.
In praise of God’s great love for us: Verses from the Psalms – The Prayer Book and Hymnal of the Bible:
Every day this month I am going to share a verse with you from one of the most wonderful Psalms. Psalm 135 is a litany of praise to our good, holy and loving God. Today we read verse 16.Let us thank our loving God for His word and His great love for us, which, like a perfect circle has no end.
“(The Lord) through the desert his people he led, for his great love is without end.” Psalm 135:16
Month of July – Ordinary Time – The Angelus:
In honour of our Blessed Lady, we now continue to say the Angelus all through the year until next Easter. This is a beautiful prayer which is traditionally said every day at 6am, 12noon and 6pm.
It helps us to remember that Jesus Our Lord was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in Mary’s womb and this great news was given to Mary through the message of the Angel Gabriel to her. Here is a link to this lovely prayer which honours the Son of God becoming human for us in His Incarnation from Our Catholic Prayers.
We are now in Ordinary Time- Summer:
The special colour is green, and this reminds us of the springing up of new life and growth which we can see in creation and nature all around and we have received in our hearts, minds and souls because of the joy and victory of Easter and the promised Gift of the Holy Spirit which we have received.

Prayer. O God, our past and future hope, to you a thousand years are like yesterday, come and gone. Teach us to see the world through your eyes, to recognise the faults of the past, and, however dimly, to see the future with hope. Let us seek out the places of hurt where we can offer your love and compassion. Find the places of darkness and despair where your mercy can bring light and comfort.
Weekly School Community Prayers:
Every week I shall be offering intercessory prayers for each of the MAC School Communities. Every day this week I shall be holding in prayer before the Lord, all the Staff, Pupils, Families and Governors/Directors who belong to the schools within: Saint Bede’s Catholic Middle School.
