Good morning everyone.

Alleluia! This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Alleluia!

We are now in the 6th Week of Easter!

Eastertide tip for the 6th Week of Easter:

Today’s Tip:

As you begin this new week, perhaps reflect on where you may have encountered God.  Maybe try to remember any moments last week where you felt God came close and review them.  Give thanks for those times and ask Him to help you to be more conscious of His loving presence beside you.

The Gospel Reading of the 6th Week of Easter is: Mark 16:9-15

“But he (the angel) said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.  He has been raised; He is not here.  Look, there is the place they laid Him.’” Mark 16:6

Today we remember St John I, Pope.

He was born in Tuscany in the year 470. He became the Bishop of Rome and Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church from 13th August 523 until 18th May 526 until his death.

Month of May:

Every week I will include a special prayer to Our Lady which can be said throughout this special Month dedicated to her.

Our special prayer this week to Our Lady: ‘The Salve Regina’ or ‘Hail Holy Queen.’

This is another timely prayer that Catholics throughout the centuries have prayed to Our Lady.  It is usually prayed immediately after the Rosary, and it is one of the Anthems to Our Lady that is prayed or sung after the last prayer Office of the Day, ‘Compline’ or ‘Night Prayer.’ This is the ‘Prayer of the Church’ prayed by Monks, Nuns, Priests and Lay people.

 Hail, Holy Queen,

Mother of Mercy.

Hail our life,

our sweetness and our hope!

To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;

to thee do we send up our sighs,

mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn then, O most gracious advocate,

thine eyes of mercy towards us,

And after this, our exile,

show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.  Amen.

 Today’s Rosary Mysteries:

Today is Monday.  Once again we pray the Joyful Mysteries with the whole Church.  In the Joyful Mysteries, we remember that Jesus enters into our life and God becomes human, as one of us, in His Incarnation.  He walks alongside us in all our joyful times too.

Today’s Title of Our Lady:

Cause of our joy, pray for us.  Amen

Once again today I will be keeping a candle burning for your intentions and will remember you all at Mass.

 Our prayers for today:

Our Lady of Lourdes, Patron of our Archdiocese and our MAC, Health of the Sick and Comforter of the Afflicted, pray for us. Amen.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us. Amen.

St Thomas More, pray for us. Amen.

St Peter, pray for us. Amen.

St Bede the Venerable, pray for us, Amen.

St Augustine of Canterbury, pray for us.  Amen.

St Luke, Beloved Physician (Doctor) and companion of St Paul the Apostle, Patron of Doctors and Healthcare professionals, pray for us. Amen.

Our scripture reading today comes from: St John’s Gospel.

(John 8:12)

Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NRSV

Blessings to you all on this day.
