Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the Government’s announcement of schools providing provision for “key workers,” the leadership teams from each of the MAC schools met this morning to discuss the provision moving forward.

It was decided that each school will provide an individual provision for its pupils. Parents that are on the “Key Worker” list need to complete the form at: https://www.lourdesmac.org.uk/corona-virus/ to accept the offer of a place at your child’s school.

This is a provisional list of “Key Workers” and may be subject to change when we have the official list from the Department for Education.

Provisional list of “Key Workers”:

  • Medical professionals – doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics etc
  • Other Heath workers – employment in a medical/health setting
  • Community safety – Police force and fire brigade
  • Education – teachers, workers in a school or a preschool setting
  • Supermarket workers
  • Delivery drivers
  • Anyone working in Critical infrastructure – Gas or Electricity

If the offer of a place for provision is not accepted by 12pm on Friday 20th March, your child will not be able to attend school from Monday onwards. We need to do this to be able to ascertain how many pupils will be attending school to ensure that we have appropriate staffing levels for both operational and safeguarding reasons.

As I am sure that you can appreciate that at this time, we have many staff who are working from home due to having symptoms of COVID-19 or due to underlying medical conditions. Therefore, we are still operating with low staff levels.

School will begin at the normal time of 8.50am. A hot meal will be provided each day. Pupils will not be required to wear school uniform. School will finish at the normal time.

If pupils are attending school, they will be completing the same provision that is offered to pupils that are working at home.

Please understand that there is no obligation to take up this offer of provision and non-attendance will not incur any attendance intervention towards yourself. However, as stated above, we do need confirmation that you wish to accept a place.

If pupils arrive to school on Monday and have not accepted a place by 12pm on Friday 20th March, they will need to be collected from school.

“Key Worker” children that are still in a self-isolation cycle will not be able to attend school until their self-isolation is complete. However, please complete the form so we can allocate a place to your child when their self-isolation is over.

If a pupil has been absent as a precaution due to underlying medical conditions, please consider that they will still be in classrooms with other pupils. We will try and undertake as many social distancing measure as practicable.

If pupils take up a place but are unable to attend school due to health reasons, please contact the school office absence line as usual.

Please be rest assured that each site will have a Designated Safeguarding Lead and First Aider on site at all times.

Please continue to monitor our social media channels, your emails and our website.

We thank you for your support and patience during a particularly challenging time.

God bless,

Luke Payton

Head of School
