End of Term – Head of School message
16 Dec 2019
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we journey through advent, it has been an appropriate time to reflect on the term that is coming to a close. September seems a very distant memory now and we have already completed a third of the academic year. Time does fly when you are having fun!
There have been some many highlights of this term, it would be a very long post if I was to mention everything, but what has been evident is the level of commitment, tenacity and hardwork of all of our pupils and staff.
There have been some tough times this term, especially when the school received the news about Mrs Vale. However, I am pleased to report that she is on the mend. The pupils have been absolutely fantastic and we have been overwhelmed with the number of cards, prayers and best wishes that have been forthcoming from pupils, parents, carers and members of the Parish. I am convinced that these have helped Mrs Vale in her recovery. She does have a long road ahead of her but I was luckily enough to go and see her last week and the Mrs Vale humour was 100% evident!
We also say a sad farewell to some staff, as well as “see you soon” to others! Some of you may be aware that Mrs Strickland has been struggling with her health for some time and has taken the decision to resign from her post in order to have a proper recuperation. Mrs Strickland will be sorely missed by everyone in school and we wish her well for the future. The door has been left open for her to return when she feels 100%.
Mrs P Mogg is leaving us this week too to spend time with Miss L Mogg who will commence her maternity on Thursday. Mrs Mogg has been a fantastic asset to the school and came out of retirement to join us at Bede’s. We hope she can now fully enjoy her retirement, especially when her Grandchild comes along! We wish Miss Mogg well too, especially as we know how much she has struggled with her massive bump over the past few weeks. We can’t wait to meet the new member of the Bede’s family!
Mrs Richardson has been with us since September on a secondment from St Peter’s, Bromsgrove. It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome other MAC colleagues over to St Bede’s to support their CPD needs. It was also nice to see some of our Year 5s recognise a familiar face in September! We wish her well as she fits back into life at St Peter’s.
Mrs Osbourne is retiring from her post as a TA at the end of this week. However, it isn’t the last you will have seen of her as she is coming back to help us with cover supervision until February! 😊
Therefore, we have a few new staff joining us in January! Miss Wilde will start with us to cover Miss Allen’s maternity leave. Pupils will already know her as she has covered some absence for us this ½ term. Miss Wright is joining us to cover for Mrs Supolova-Beardmore when her maternity kicks in. Mrs Lynch is joining us from the secondary independent sector in January also. I’m sure that all pupils, parents and staff will make them feel welcome.
We also look forward to welcoming Mrs Wintle back full time in January after working part time since returning from maternity leave.
Finally, I just want to say a massive thank-you to all of you and your children for your support this term. It is greatly appreciated by all staff. We don’t always get everything right but in working together, we are all aiming for the very best outcomes for our children.
Have a peaceful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
God bless and take care,
Head of School
