This year’s Engineering Development Trust (EDT) Bronze Industrial Cadet Go4SET Challenge is drawing to a close after 12 weeks of exceptionally hard work by our team members, Evie, Rosie, Charlotte, Billy, Harry and Tia. The team, named the Cave People, have researched and applied ideas required for designing a building that can withstand future climate change in a “STEM meet Grand Designs” kind of way!

Their final report, model and video will be virtually assessed on Monday 19th April by external industrial assessors and they will have an online Graduation Ceremony on Friday 23rd April, where they will be awarded their Bronze Industrial Cadet Certificates.

Their Industrial Mentor, Adelle Astley, from Inovyn in Cheshire said that they should be very proud of their achievements, which she considered to be on a par with some of the Year 12/13 Gold Industrial Cadet teams’ work that she had also mentored, especially in view of the fact that our team are only Year 8s.

Miss Horton said “It has been an immense pleasure to work with this team this year; they’ve faced the added challenges of having to work as an online unit, in the middle of a pandemic with varying standards of internet connection and it’s to their credit that they’ve managed to adapt and collaborate to produce a project of such a high standard – well done Team Cave People! I’m looking forward to your STEM contributions to society in the future!”
