What a busy half term it has been! 8 weeks is a long one but it seems to have flown by. This week, pupils and staff are very tired but all have stepped up to the plate to ensure that we have had a fantastic final week.
Yesterday was our first SMVSC Day of the year. SMVSC stands for Social, Moral, Vocational, Spiritual and Cultural education. We do several days a year and cover a range of different topics. Pupils looked at relationships and how to keep themselves safe yesterday. We were lucky enough to have guest speakers from West Mercia Police and Blue Cross Animal Sanctuary. One of the comments from one of our guests was, “I think the children were truly exceptional. Their knowledge, stories, comments and questions showed great depth of understanding and respect.” This is fantastic to read and really perks you up on a dark October morning. Well done to Miss Steele for preparing the day for all the pupils and staff (it was her first ever one!) and thanks to all staff for engaging with the topic matter.
Tuesday was our annual Open Evening and it was packed to the rafters! Our pupils really shone and I know it must be the end of half term and I’m tired as the speeches from the Head Boy and Girl made me a little bit emotional! Classrooms were buzzing with activity and prospective pupils were really able to get an insight into life at Bede’s. We have since received some lovely emails from prospective parents, one said, “I thought all your team and pupils were extremely professional, knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects and school.” Well done to all pupils and staff for their hard work!
As a school, we want to discuss any concerns or queries you may have. We may not always agree with each other 100% of the time but we are here for discussion and debate. However, what we cannot do is always be available for parents to meet with us whenever they arrive at reception. Therefore, if you would like to meet with a particular member of staff, please call and arrange an appointment or a call back. Please also bear in mind that some staff do work fixed hours or days so their availability may be restricted to certain times.
Have a peaceful and restful half term with your families. We’ll soon be on the Advent countdown!
