Good morning everyone, hope you are all well.

Welcome to today’s spiritual lift! May you be blessed and encouraged as you read today.

For all those back in our School settings again:

Once again I will be offering a special candle for you in honour of Our Lady of Lourdes.  May she keep you all safe and well under her protective mantle.  I hope your day goes well.

Easing of the lockdown – Places of Worship:

Our Lady of Mount Carmel will now be open for individual private prayers.  Church will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.30am-12.30am for private prayer ONLY.  As yet, we do not have a date when public services or Mass is able to be celebrated.  We look forward to the day when this is possible once again.

Special prayers for our young people:

During this time of pandemic and lockdown, with all Churches and places of worship closed, we have unfortunately been unable to meet together to celebrate the Sacraments.  Our Year 3 children were due to have made their First Holy Communion at the start of June and our young people in Years 7 and 8 were due to receive the Holy Spirit in a new way during this week.  Let us continue to keep them all in our thoughts and prayers as we look forward to the time in hope when we will be able to celebrate these important Sacraments in their lives and in the life of our faith communities.

Keeping Jesus company in the Blessed Sacrament – Holy Hour for Coronavirus Pandemic this evening from

As it is Thursday today, once again this evening, I will be holding my Holy Hour with the Lord online in the Blessed Sacrament.  Once more, you are most welcome to join in with me if you are able between 7-8pm.

Please do consider joining in yourself at home if you can, even if it is only for a few moments to offer a prayer or thought during 7-8pm.

We continue to hold up in prayer those who are sick, suffering and those who have died.  We pray for those who care for them, their friends and families.

We pray for those who suffer also in mind and spirit and ask that they may receive the help and support they need from the Lord and His Church on earth and those dedicated to care for them in the Medical profession.

We pray that pupils, teachers and their families, customers, shop workers and businesses be kept safe and well as the lockdown restrictions begin to ease. May people be caring and mindful of others as they remember to observe social distancing and safety guidelines.

O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving, be every moment Thine. Amen.

Sacred Heart Novena: Day 9:

Today is the final day in the series of the nine days of prayer which have been running in honour of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  I heartily commend the  to you for your inspiration and prayer as well during these days.

Here is the traditional Litany prayer from Our Catholic Prayers.  Tomorrow, 19th June will be the Feast of the Sacred Heart. May we seek to honour and love this Heart, the very Heart of Our God which has loved us so much.

June is traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This Divine Heart, full of love and mercy, is the ultimate expression of God’s love for all people.  Jesus’ Heart is represented with His Heart pierced, as it was when He died on the cross, the soldier used his spear to check that Jesus had died. It is surrounded by a Crown of Thorns which reminds us of Jesus’ suffering and death and our wrongdoing which wounds the Heart of God when we choose to go our own ways rather than God’s.  It has burning flames coming from it which reminds us that God’s Heart burns with deepest, tenderest love for every person and it also the fire of His Holy Spirit.  At the top of the Heart, there is a Cross, which reminds us that the cross is at the heart of Jesus and this was the means by which we might be saved and God’s love expressed most fully.

Today’s Special characteristic of the Sacred Heart of Jesus:

Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness, have mercy on us.  Amen.

Month of June – Sacred Heart of Jesus

Every week I will include a special prayer to Our Lord Jesus whose Sacred Heart beats with love for each one of us.

Our prayer to Jesus this week: A traditional prayer to the Sacred Heart.

Heart  of Jesus, save me.

Heart of my Creator, perfect me.

Heart of my Saviour, deliver me.

Heart of my Judge, forgive me.

Heart of my Father, govern me.

Heart of my Spouse of my soul, love me.

Heart of my Master, teach me.

Heart of my King, crown me.

Heart of my Benefactor, enrich me.

Heart of my Pastor, defend me.

Heart of my Friend, embrace me.

Heart of my Infant Jesus, draw me.

Heart of Jesus, dying on the Cross, pray for me.

Heart of Jesus, great in all Your states, please give Yourself to me.

Allow me, my Lord, to give all that I am to You.

O, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You!  Amen.

June is also dedicated to the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our source of life, grace, mercy and power from the Heart of God Himself.  His power helps us to live as God wants.  He helps us to pray, to love God and others, especially those whom we find difficult to get on with and those who have hurt us in some way.  He is our Helper, Sustainer and Friend. May we turn to Him and ask for His help in these days.  Every day we will be doing some heavenly gardening as we discover the many characteristics, gifts, fruits, attributes and symbols of the Holy Spirit.

Here is today’s:

Holy Spirit, Sanctifying Spirit, descend upon us! Amen.

Our scripture reading today comes from: St Matthew’s Gospel (Matthew 6:8-13) NRSV

Here is the beautiful prayer which Jesus taught His disciples and us, his modern-day disciples too.  May we make these gracious words from Our Lord’s lips our own special prayer today.

“…..Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.  Pray then, in this way:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.”   Amen.

Our prayers for today:

Come. O Jesus! Be our Brother in the pure joy of Christian love.

Come, O Jesus! Be our Friend in the depths of this world’s sorrows. Amen.

During this lovely month of June, I will include some prayers to the Holy Spirit too.

Here today are some prayers and verses from the beautiful Litany of the Holy Spirit with which we can make our own special prayer to God the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit, impress Your Law of Love in our hearts. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all our trust in You.  Amen.

Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of all Your people! Amen.

Mary the Mother of Jesus, Mother of the Church, pray for us.  Amen.
