Good morning everyone, hello and I hope you are well today.

As we approach the weekend once more, may the Lord in His love bless us and keep us safe as we spend time with our families. May you have a restful and relaxing couple of days.

Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Friday.

Our weekly Scripture reading for your inspiration and encouragement.

“The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who revere him, to rescue them. Taste and see that the Lord is good.  He is happy who seeks refuge in him.”

(Psalm 33:8,9)

Prayer Focus – June- Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

This Divine Heart, full of love and mercy, is the ultimate expression of God’s love for all people.  Jesus’ Heart is represented with His Heart pierced, as it was when He died on the cross, the soldier used his spear to check that Jesus had died. It is surrounded by a Crown of Thorns which reminds us of Jesus’ suffering and death and our wrongdoing which wounds the Heart of God when we choose to go our own ways rather than God’s.  It has burning flames coming from it which reminds us that God’s Heart burns with deepest, tenderest love for every person and it also the fire of His Holy Spirit.  At the top of the Heart, there is a Cross, which reminds us that the cross is at the heart of Jesus and this was the means by which we might be saved and God’s love expressed most fully.

Solemnity of the Sacred Heart:

Today is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Tomorrow, we honour Our Blessed Lady’s Immaculate Heart.

Month of June – Ordinary Time – The Angelus:

In honour of our Blessed Lady, we now continue to say the Angelus all through the year until next Easter.  This is a beautiful prayer which is traditionally said every day at 6am, 12noon and 6pm.

It helps us to remember that Jesus Our Lord was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in Mary’s womb and this great news was given to Mary through the message of the Angel Gabriel to her.   Here is a link to this lovely prayer which honours the Son of God becoming human for us in His Incarnation from Our Catholic Prayers.
