As we approach the weekend once more, may you have a safe and relaxing time with your families and may the Lord in His love keep you and your loved ones safe in these days. We especially ask Our Blessed Lady to continue to cover us all in her protective mantle of love.

Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Friday.

Special Holy Spirit Novena from tomorrow: 15th May-23rd May 2021

With today being Friday, I am posting these details for you today so you can begin the special Novena to the Holy Spirit which begins tomorrow.

This special Novena (Nine Days of Prayer) was the first ever Novena that was prayed by Our Lady and the Apostles in the Upper Room in Jerusalem as they waited for the promised Gift of the Holy Spirit.  Every year between Ascension and Pentecost, the Church traditionally begins to pray in preparation for this wonderful feast – the coming of the Holy Spirit and the Birthday of the Church.  More details about this beautiful prayer here from www.catholic.org.

Prayer focus: Month of May:

During the Month of May we remember and honour our Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus.  We especially honour her by saying the Rosary, which is her special prayer and is the prayer most dear to her heart.

Our Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us.  Amen.

Rosary Mystery for today: Month of May:

Our Rosary Mysteries today are the Sorrowful Mysteries.

Once again, we unite all our sorrows, worries and trials to those of Our Lord Jesus and remember His love for us in choosing to give His life for us on the Cross with all its pains and torments.  May we ask Our Lady, Mary, the Mother of Sorrows to pray for us today in all we face that’s hard and difficult.

Month of May: Weekly Prayer:

Our special prayer this week to Our Lady: The Memorare.

This prayer may be attributed to St Bernard.  It is a beautiful prayer of trust in Our Lady’s Motherly Love and Maternal help.  As we ask her for help, she will offer our prayers to the Lord.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known

that anyone who fled to your protection,

implored your help or sought your intercession

was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence,

I fly to you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;

to you do I come, before you I stand,

sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,

despise not my petitions,

but in your mercy, hear and answer me.  Amen.

Prayer for the Month of May and Eastertide:

In honour of our Blessed Lady, the usual prayer every day of the ‘Angelus’ is replaced with the Regina Coeli’ or Queen of Heaven.

Prayer source taken from: https://www.ourcatholicprayers.com/regina-coeli.html

Queen of Heaven, rejoice. Alleluia.
For He, whom thou wast worthy to bear. Alleluia.
Has risen as He said. Alleluia.
Pray for us to God. Alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia.
R. Because the Lord is truly risen, Alleluia.

Let us pray
O God, Who by the Resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, hast been pleased to give joy to the whole world, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may attain the joys of eternal life. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Season of Easter: Week 6:

He is Risen!’
