Hello everyone, good morning and I hope that your week has gone well for you.  As we approach the weekend once more, may the Lord in His love bless you and your families as you spend special time together.  May you have a safe and refreshing couple of days.

For the final time this week, our scripture comes from the Book of Psalms. (Psalm 97:1) The verses come from the CTS New Catholic Bible.

“Sing a new song to the LORD for he has worked wonders.  His right hand and holy arm have brought salvation.”

Welcome to Friday’s Spiritual Lift.  May it be of inspiration and blessing to you.

Today we remember Saint Teresa of Avila (Teresa of Jesus). Here is some information about her from www.catholic.org.

October – The Month of the Rosary and of Our Blessed Lady:

During this month of October we focus upon the Holy Rosary.  We are encouraged to think about Our Lady as we dedicate this month to Her as Queen of the Holy Rosary.  This month is a beautiful way to offer our prayers to Our Blessed Lady and say Her special prayer, which is the dearest to Her heart, the Rosary.

During this special month, let’s make a special effort to pick up our Rosary beads again and begin praying this beautiful prayer.

Our Rosary Mysteries today are the Sorrowful Mysteries.

As today is Friday, it is when we especially remember the sufferings and death of Our Lord Jesus. Whatever sorrows, fears, worries or trials we are going through, let us place all our hope and trust in our loving Lord and God who, in the Person of Jesus, walks beside us every day and knows what it is like to have difficulties.  Let us offer all that is in our lives today to Our Blessed Mother Mary and she will offer all our prayers to our Lord for Him to answer as He wills.

The Sorrowful Mysteries are:

The Agony of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, The Scourging of Jesus, The crowning of Jesus with thorns, The carrying of the Cross, The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus on Calvary.

We continue to be in Ordinary Time- Autumn:

The special colour is green, and this reminds us of the beauty of the earth and the gathering in of the harvest and giving thanks to God for all His many blessings and gifts to us.

Our daily scripture reading today comes from: St John’s Gospel (John 14:6,7) Quotation taken from the CTS New Catholic Bible.

“Jesus said, ‘I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.  If you know me, you know my Father too.  From this moment, you know him and have seen him.'”

Here are some special prayers written by St Teresa of Avila (of Jesus) from the Daily Prayers webpage.
