Hello everyone, good morning to you and I hope you are well today.

Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Friday. As we approach the weekend once more, may the Lord in His love bless you and your families as you spend time together.  May you have a refreshing and relaxing couple of days.

Today we remember Saint Raymond of Penyafort.  His surname is also spelt Pennafort. Here is some information about him from www.catholic.org.

First Friday – Sacred Heart of Jesus:

Today, is the First Friday of the Month and we remember the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  The love of God was shown so powerfully in the Life and Death of Our loving Lord, Jesus Christ and here are some traditional prayers in honour of His lovely gentle Sacred Heart, filled full of love and mercy for us.

You can find some wonderful prayers and devotions about this lovely celebration online.  Simply type in “First Friday -Sacred Heart Devotions” into your Internet browser for more information.

Our prayer for today:

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all our trust in You!  Amen.

New Year 2022:

As we begin another Calendar year in 2022, we may be feeling some uncertainty and anxiety, however, let us place our full trust in our loving God who holds all things together and holds each of us safely in His strong yet gentle hands.

In these days of uncertainty and anxious times, let us be reminded of these words from St Teresa of Avila. “Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things pass, God never changes. Patience achieves all it strives for. Whoever has God lacks nothing, for God alone suffices.”

Weekly Scripture Verse:

Our scripture verse for us to ponder and pray for this week comes from Psalm 139.  Our verses are taken from the CTS New Catholic Bible.  Let us give thanks to the Lord for the precious gift of His Word, the Bible.  May it guide and strengthen us in these days. Be encouraged as our God speaks to us.

“Lord, Your eyes beheld my unformed substance.  In your book were written all the days that were formed for me when none of them as yet existed.”

Month of January.

During the month of January, we focus on the Holy Childhood of Jesus and the Names and Titles of Jesus.

During this month we can offer special prayers to the Infant Jesus.  It is one of the mysteries of our faith that our powerful and eternal God chose to be born as a Man for us here on earth and Jesus was found in human form as a little baby who had to grow as the years went by, just as we do.

He became like us in all things except sin.  As an infant, Jesus was little, helpless and weak for He wanted to be with us as He is our Immanuel, God-With-Us.  Whatever we face today and going forward into this New Year, Jesus is with and walks beside us, sometimes carrying us gently in His loving arms when we are unable to stand.

Our prayer this month:

To the Divine Infant of Prague, Our Lord Jesus.  Please see the link below from www.catholic.org.
