Good morning everyone, hello and I hope you are well today.

May the Lord by His Holy Spirit guide and inspire you as you begin a new week.  This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Our Scripture for this week comes from Saint Luke’s Gospel. (Luke 8:16-18) Our verses this week come from the CTS New Catholic Bible.

“Jesus said, ‘Your light must shine in the sight of people, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in heaven.’ “

Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Monday. May it bless and encourage you today.

Today we remember Saints Andrew Kim Tae-Gon and his companions who were martyrs – giving witness to Christ by their belief in Him unto death – in the Korean Church. Here is some information about them from www.catholic.org.

The Catholic Week:

Monday is dedicated to the Holy Spirit and the Holy Souls.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth.

O God who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations.  Through Christ Our Lord.  Amen.

Prayer for the Holy Souls:

Eternal Father, I offer You the most Precius Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Divine Son, Our Lord Jesus, in union with all the Holy Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, and for all sinners everywhere.  Amen.

September is traditionally dedicated to The Holy Cross of Jesus, Our Lady of Sorrows and Care of the earth and creation.

During this month, we see the Liturgical colour -Green -on our prayer tables/spaces and shelves in our classrooms and around school.  We reflect upon God’s goodness to us in creation and especially as we gather in the Harvest, and we thank God for the many blessings we receive day by day from Him.

Prayer and Reflection for Creation:

From 1st September until 4th October (The Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi) this special season of prayer, reflection and thanksgiving for creation will continue.

Pope Francis encourages us to treat the earth, each other and our planet home with the greatest respect and do all we can to protect and preserve them in his 2nd Encyclical Letter, ‘Laudato Si’ published in 2015, with the subtitle, “On care for our common home.”  If you can, find a copy of this wonderful book and read it slowly and prayerfully.

During September, we honour the Holy Cross of Jesus.  We give thanks for the love of God which was shown so clearly in the gift of Jesus Christ His Son, our Lord, through His Life, Death and Resurrection.  We also honour Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows which she experienced throughout her lifetime.
