Good morning everyone, hello and I hope you are well today.

May the Lord by His Holy Spirit guide and inspire you as you begin a new week.  May it be filled with wonderful opportunities and exciting possibilities! Rejoice in the blessings of a new day! Our verses this week come from the Book of Psalms. (Psalm 32:12a)

“They are happy, whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own.”

Welcome to Monday’s Spiritual Lift for today.

Today we remember Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. Here is some information about him from www.catholic.org. There is a video to watch about him too. Saint Aloysius died whilst caring for those who were suffering and dying during the time of plague. In these continuing days and this time of pandemic and rising cases let us ask Saint Aloysius to pray for us and for all the countries in the world who are struggling with the effects of Coronavirus. We especially ask his prayers for the people of India and Brazil at this time.

We continue to honour Our Lord’s Sacred Heart as we journey through the Month of June.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This Divine Heart, full of love and mercy, is the ultimate expression of God’s love for all people.  Jesus’ Heart is represented with His Heart pierced, as it was when He died on the cross, the soldier used his spear to check that Jesus had died. It is surrounded by a Crown of Thorns which reminds us of Jesus’ suffering and death and our wrongdoing which wounds the Heart of God when we choose to go our own ways rather than God’s.  It has burning flames coming from it which reminds us that God’s Heart burns with deepest, tenderest love for every person and it also the fire of His Holy Spirit.  At the top of the Heart, there is a Cross, which reminds us that the cross is at the heart of Jesus and this was the means by which we might be saved and God’s love expressed most fully.

Let us continue to say this special prayer every day this week in honour of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You! Immaculate Heart of Mary, be our refuge and protection!

Month of June – Ordinary Time – The Angelus:

In honour of our Blessed Lady, we now continue to say the Angelus all through the year until next Easter.  This is a beautiful prayer which is traditionally said every day at 6am, 12noon and 6pm.

It helps us to remember that Jesus Our Lord was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in Mary’s womb and this great news was given to Mary through the message of the Angel Gabriel to her.   Here is a link to this lovely prayer which honours the Son of God becoming human for us in His Incarnation from Our Catholic Prayers.

We are now in Ordinary Time- Summer:

The special colour is green and this reminds us of the springing up of new life and growth which we can see in creation and nature all around and we have received in our hearts, minds and souls because of the joy and victory of Easter and the promised Gift of the Holy Spirit which we have received.

The Year of Saint Joseph continues!

Cycle of Prayer | Ordinary Time: Summer – Liturgy Office

Prayer. O God, our past and future hope, to you a thousand years are like yesterday, come and gone. Teach us to see the world through your eyes, to recognise the faults of the past, and, however dimly, to see the future with hope. Let us seek out the places of hurt where we can offer your love and compassion. Find the places of darkness and despair where your mercy can bring light and comfort.
