Hello everyone, good morning and I hope your day is going well for you.

Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Thursday.  May you be inspired as you ponder and pray today.

Our Weekly Scripture Verses: Our verses this week come from the CTS New Catholic Bible.

“Jesus said, ‘Your light must shine in the sight of people, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in heaven.’ ” (Luke 8:16-18)

Today we remember Saint Pius of Pietrelcina or Saint Pio, also known as Padre Pio.

Here is some more information about him from www.catholic.org.

The Catholic Week:

On Thursdays we remember the Holy Eucharist – the precious gift of the Holy Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus.  The Holy Eucharist or Blessed Sacrament is the living sign of Jesus’ Real Presence here with us in the Eucharist which we honour and celebrate at Mass. It reminds us of the love of God as revealed by Jesus His Son as He gave His life for us in death on the Cross and rose again to free us from our sins and restore us to God’s love and friendship.

Our prayers for the day as we ponder these themes:  Here are some special prayers taken from the My Catholic Life website.

Prayer to the Most Blessed Sacrament – My Catholic Life!

September is traditionally dedicated to The Holy Cross of Jesus, Our Lady of Sorrows and Care of the earth and creation.

During this month, we see the Liturgical colour -Green -on our prayer tables/spaces and shelves in our classrooms and around school.  We reflect upon God’s goodness to us in creation and especially as we gather in the Harvest, and we thank God for the many blessings we receive day by day from Him.

Prayer and Reflection for Creation:

From 1st September until 4th October (The Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi) this special season of prayer, reflection and thanksgiving for creation will continue.

Pope Francis encourages us to treat the earth, each other and our planet home with the greatest respect and do all we can to protect and preserve them in his 2nd Encyclical Letter, ‘Laudato Si’ published in 2015, with the subtitle, “On care for our common home.”  If you can, find a copy of this wonderful book and read it slowly and prayerfully.

During September, we honour the Holy Cross of Jesus.  We give thanks for the love of God which was shown so clearly in the gift of Jesus Christ His Son, our Lord, through His Life, Death and Resurrection.  We also honour Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows which she experienced throughout her lifetime.

Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions – September:
