Hello everyone, good morning. Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Tuesday. May it be a source of hope and inspiration for you.
Our Weekly Scripture Verses:
Our verses this week come from the CTS New Catholic Bible.
“Jesus said, ‘Your light must shine in the sight of people, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in heaven.’ “(Luke 8:16-18)
Today we remember Saint Matthew the Apostle. Saint Matthew also called Levi in some Bible translations was a Tax Collector and he was one of the first of the Twelve Disciples whom Jesus called to follow Him. Here is some more information about him and a video from www.catholic.org. St Matthew is one of the Patron Saint of Accountants, Tax Collectors and Financiers.
The Catholic Week:
On Tuesdays we honour the Holy Face of Jesus – especially as it appeared during His sorrowful Passion. Jesus is the human face of the Father and reflects Him and His heart of merciful love perfectly. Let us honour Our Lord in His love and devotion to us today.
Here is a special prayer to the Holy Face of Our Lord Jesus from www.catholic.org.
Holy Face of Jesus, Be my joy.
Holy Face of Jesus, Be my strength.
Holy Face of Jesus, Be my health.
Holy Face of Jesus, Be my courage.
Holy Face of Jesus, Be my wisdom.
Holy Face of Jesus, Image of the Father, Provide for me.
Holy Face of Jesus, Mirror of Thy Priestly Heart, Be my zeal.
Holy Face of Jesus, Gift of the Spirit, Show me Thy love.
Holy Face of Jesus, saddened by sorrow, Grant my requests through Thy merits.
September is traditionally dedicated to The Holy Cross of Jesus, Our Lady of Sorrows and Care of the earth and creation.
During this month, we see the Liturgical colour -Green -on our prayer tables/spaces and shelves in our classrooms and around school. We reflect upon God’s goodness to us in creation and especially as we gather in the Harvest, and we thank God for the many blessings we receive day by day from Him.
Prayer and Reflection for Creation:
From 1st September until 4th October (The Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi) this special season of prayer, reflection and thanksgiving for creation will continue.
Pope Francis encourages us to treat the earth, each other and our planet home with the greatest respect and do all we can to protect and preserve them in his 2nd Encyclical Letter, ‘Laudato Si’ published in 2015, with the subtitle, “On care for our common home.” If you can, find a copy of this wonderful book and read it slowly and prayerfully.
During September, we honour the Holy Cross of Jesus. We give thanks for the love of God which was shown so clearly in the gift of Jesus Christ His Son, our Lord, through His Life, Death and Resurrection. We also honour Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows which she experienced throughout her lifetime.
Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions – September:
