Hello everyone, good morning to you all. I hope that your week is going well for you so far.
Once again, our Scripture for this week comes from the Book of the Prophet Zechariah. (Zech 8:8) Our verses are taken from the CTS New Catholic Bible.
“The LORD of hosts says this, ‘I will bring them (my people) back to live inside Jerusalem. They shall be my people and I will be their God in faithfulness and integrity.’ “
Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for Wednesday. May it bless and encourage you today.
Today we remember the Holy Archangels Saint Michael, Saint Gabriel and Saint Raphael. These are the three Archangels mentioned in the scriptures. Let us thank our loving God for His care for us as He has provided us with a special guardian angel to protect us, help us in our prayers and lead us to God.
Here is some more information about Saint Michael and the Holy Archangels from www.catholic.org.
The Catholic Week:
On Wednesdays we honour Saint Joseph – Husband to Our Blessed Lady and Foster-Father to Our Lord Jesus. He is head of the Holy Family and Saint Joseph is also Patron of Workers and he is Patron of the Universal Church.
Our prayers for the day as we ponder these themes:
Here are some special prayers we can say during the Year of Saint Joseph. These are from www.ourcatholicprayers.com
Here are some special prayers from Daily Prayers.org which are all in honour of Saint Joseph. Some prayers have been written by Pope Francis.
September is traditionally dedicated to The Holy Cross of Jesus, Our Lady of Sorrows and Care of the earth and creation.
During this month, we see the Liturgical colour -Green -on our prayer tables/spaces and shelves in our classrooms and around school. We reflect upon God’s goodness to us in creation and especially as we gather in the Harvest, and we thank God for the many blessings we receive day by day from Him.
Prayer and Reflection for Creation:
From 1st September until 4th October (The Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi) this special season of prayer, reflection and thanksgiving for creation will continue.
Pope Francis encourages us to treat the earth, each other and our planet home with the greatest respect and do all we can to protect and preserve them in his 2nd Encyclical Letter, ‘Laudato Si’ published in 2015, with the subtitle, “On care for our common home.” If you can, find a copy of this wonderful book and read it slowly and prayerfully.
During September, we honour the Holy Cross of Jesus. We give thanks for the love of God which was shown so clearly in the gift of Jesus Christ His Son, our Lord, through His Life, Death and Resurrection. We also honour Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows which she experienced throughout her lifetime.
Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions – September:

We are now in Ordinary Time- Autumn:
The special colour is green, and this reminds us of the beauty of the earth and the gathering in of the harvest and giving thanks to God for all His many blessings and gifts to us.
