Sixth Week of Easter
Jesus speaks of the promised Holy Spirit.
Jesus said, “If anyone loves me he will keep my word and my father will love him, and we shall come to him and make our home in him. But the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you. John Chapter 14
The Easter season is drawing to a close. The radiant dawn of the Risen Christ is soon to give way to glorious day as we draw closer to when the promised Holy Spirit, the Helper, Advocate, Friend and Guide, the Paraclete, (the One who stands beside us) will come in all His brightness, splendour and gentle power in the glorious Feast of Pentecost.
Very soon, we will celebrate with joy the Confirmation of our Year 7 and 8 pupils when they will receive the promised Holy Spirit and welcome Him into their lives. We ask that the Lord in His love will bestow many blessings upon these young people, who are themselves the future of the Church. As we approach the joyful Feast of Pentecost very soon, may we learn to embrace with love and commitment the Third Person of the Most Holy Trinity and allow His influence to transform our lives during this joyful Easter Season.
As we continue on our Easter journey, we also travel closer to the wonderful event of Jesus’ Ascension into Heaven. As He is the first-fruits of the new Resurrection Life which we, who believe in Jesus, will also receive as He ascends in Glory, we too will rise with Him and follow where He has gone. He has gone before us to prepare a place for us and He will come back again to take us with Him to be with Him for ever.
As we are still on our earthly pilgrimage of faith, we need God’s supernatural help with every aspect our daily lives. Our Loving Lord and God is gracious to us. He will not force His way in, we have to ask Him to come into our lives in a special way. We have to invite Him in. Our Loving Heavenly Father who gives all good gifts to us, will generously pour out His Holy Spirit upon us if we ask for Him. God’s gentle dove will support and protect us all the days of our lives and will strengthen us to live a life of love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control.
Lord God, Our Heavenly Father,
You have redeemed us in Jesus Christ Your Son.
He was put to death in the Body but raised to life again in the Spirit.
We ask You to give to us the Helper that will be with us always,
Your Holy Spirit of Truth.
May we always be able to give a reason for the hope that is in us.
The hope that You give.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
