Hello everyone, good morning to you. I hope you are well as we begin another week together. May the inspiration and light of the Holy Spirit of God guide and strengthen you every day as we begin our new week. May it be filled with grace and exciting opportunities for you.

Welcome to our Spiritual Lift for the week beginning 23rd May 2022. May it bless and encourage you in your walk with the Lord this week.

Prayer focus: Month of May:  During the Month of May we remember and honour our Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus.  We especially honour her by saying the Rosary, which is her special prayer and is the prayer most dear to her heart.

Our Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us.  Amen.

Rosary Mystery for today: Month of May: Our Rosary Mysteries today are the Joyful Mysteries. May we remember the happy and joyful times of Our Lady’s Life with Our Lord Jesus and Saint Joseph.  May we give thanks to God for all those things in our lives which bring us His love, grace, joy and blessings.

Month of May: Every week I will include a special prayer to Our Lady which can be said throughout this special Month dedicated to her.

Month of May: Weekly Prayer:

Our special prayer this week to Our Lady:

Our prayer this week is The Magnificat.   This is taken from Saint Luke’s Gospel – Luke 1:46-55.   It is Mary’s great song of praise to the Lord.  This is traditionally said at every Evening Prayer or ‘Vespers’ in the Divine Office or Liturgy of the Hours of the Church.  This is prayed by monks, nuns, priests and lay people every day in honour of our Blessed Lady and gives praise and glory to our loving God.  It is also the special prayer of Our Lady of the Magnificat MAC of Schools. May Our Lady’s prayers accompany us every day.

My Soul glorifies the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.

He looks on His servant in her lowliness;

henceforth all ages will call be blessed.

The Almighty works marvels for me.

Holy His Name!

His mercy is from age to age,

on those who fear Him.

He puts forth His arm in strength

and scatters the proud-hearted.

He casts the mighty from their thrones

and raises the lowly.

He fills the starving with good things,

sends the rich away empty.

He protects Israel, His servant,

Remembering His mercy,

the mercy promised to our fathers,

to Abraham and his servants for ever.  Amen.

During this month of May, dedicated to Our Blessed Lady, Mary the Mother of Jesus, may her prayers accompany us in all we do.

Our Lady of the Magnificat, pray for us.  Amen.

Season of Easter:

We are now in the Sixth Week of the wonderful Easter Season.

We are an Easter People and ‘Alleluia’ is our song! During these weeks of Easter (7 weeks in total) we celebrate the victorious and glorious rising of the Lord Jesus from death in His triumphant Resurrection that took place on that first Easter Sunday and we join in with the cries of hope and joy as we hear, ‘He is not here! He is Risen!’

The Lord is Risen! Alleluia! He is Risen indeed!

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Weekly Scripture Verse: For the 6th Week of Easter:

Our scripture verse for us to ponder and pray this week comes from Saint John’s Gospel (John 14:27) These verses are taken from the CTS New Catholic Bible Edition. Let us give thanks to the Lord for the precious gift of His Word, the Bible.  May it guide and strengthen us in these days. Be encouraged!

Jesus said, “Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I give you, a peace the world cannot give, this is my gift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”

Prayer for Eastertide:

In honour of our Blessed Lady, the usual prayer every day of the Easter Season the ‘Angelus’ is replaced with the Regina Coeli’ or Queen of Heaven.

Queen of Heaven, rejoice. Alleluia.

For He, whom thou wast worthy to bear. Alleluia.

Has risen as He said. Alleluia.

Pray for us to God. Alleluia.

  1. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia.
  2. Because the Lord is truly risen, Alleluia.

Let us pray

O God, Who by the Resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, hast been pleased to give joy to the whole world, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may attain the joys of eternal life. Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
