Dear Year 8 parents
This year’s Engineering Development Trust’s Go4SET challenge will be run as an online project. This is a national competition that ultimately leads to participants being awarded an Industrial Cadet Bronze Award, which can be progressed through further awards to University level and is supported and recognised by local and national industries.
I intend to enter 12 team members next Tuesday (12th), so if your child is interested in taking part, gaining a Bronze Industrial Cadet Award, would like to develop their soft skills in STEM and is a practically-minded, punctual, organised and considerate team member, they should send an email to me explaining why I should choose them to be part of the teams, by no later than 3pm on Tuesday afternoon.
We came 2nd nationally in the innovative design category last time, so expectations are high.
The online launch is next Thursday (14th) at 10am, so your child will need to be able to get online at that time.
As mentioned, numbers are restricted to 12 people (6 girls and 6 boys) and interested pupils will need to pay an entry fee of approximately £25.
If your child is chosen and you agree to them taking part, please email me giving your permission for them to take part and guaranteeing to pay the entrance fee (this will be via ParentPay, but please don’t pay yet as the EDT haven’t confirmed the exact cost!).
(It would also be useful to the EDT if you could give an indication of what type of device your child is likely to be using to access the online work, for example tablet, laptop, desktop, kindle, phone, ipad, etc, on your permission email)
